Description
Iceland : Kirkjufell mountain and Kirkjufellfoss (falls) in Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. Kirkjufell is known as the arrowhead mountain in Game of Thrones.
Iceland is a volcanically and geologically active island in the North Atlantic Ocean, just outside the Arctic Circle. It is the most sparsely populated country in Europe. Many fjords punctuate Iceland's coastline, which is also where most settlements are situated. The island's interior, the Highlands of Iceland, is a cold and uninhabitable combination of sand, mountains, glaciers and lava fields.
Kirkjufell is a 463 m high mountain on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. Kirkjufell contains volcanic rock, but is not a volcano. It is a former nunatak, a mountain that protruded above the glaciers surrounding it during the Ice Age. A true icon of Iceland, Kirkjufell Mountain, with its pyramidal shape which sits on a peninsula, surrounded by multiple beaches. and the nearby presence of the pretty 16-meter-high waterfall named Kirkjufellsfoss flowing into a small lake close to the sea, is quite a magical place. Kirkjufell literally means “church mountain” in Icelandic.
This image is available as canvas print, framed print, acrylic print, metal print, wood print or poster in a variety of sizes. It can also be printed as a greeting card, T-shirt, jigsaw puzzle, throw pillow, duvet cover, shower curtain, fleece blanket, beach or bath towel, tote bag, zip pouch, phone case, coffee mug, yoga mat, spiral notebook, etc.

Beautiful work!
Olivier Parent replied:
Thank you very much Linda! When I went to Grundarfjörður, I really did not imagine I could have Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellfoss for me alone, but the sun rises so early during summertime… Most tourists do not wake up that early ;)… I was very surprised to see nobody around enjoying that glorious sunrise. Lucky me!
