Iceland : ice chunks from Jökulsárlón glacial lake in Vatnajökull National Park are scattered on the black sand of Diamond beach.

Iceland is a volcanically and geologically active island in the North Atlantic Ocean, just outside the Arctic Circle. It is the most sparsely populated country in Europe. Many fjords punctuate Iceland's coastline. The island's interior, the Highlands of Iceland, is a cold and uninhabitable combination of sand, mountains, glaciers and lava fields.

The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland. At the Diamond Beach, the icebergs which fill the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon wash up on shore, creating a stark contrast with the volcanic black sand.
