Thailand - Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Le island, in Krabi Province, part of Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. Steep limestone cliffs surround the shallow bay, giving the illusion of an almost closed lagoon. Between 1999 and 2000, Maya Bay served as a backdrop for "The Beach“, motion picture starring Leonardo Di Caprio, which considerably increased the number of tourists on that very small secluded beach before the Thai authorities eventually decide to ban access so that nature could regenerate. This photograph shows deserted Maya Bay recovering its resplendent natural beauty.
